As for Weapons, Ghial's Staff is a favourite. Ghial, The Bone Dancer drops it in Factions north of Senji's Corner or alternatively you can buy it in KAineng for around 40k.
Stats: 20/20 casting/recharge, energy +15, Death Magic +1 (20%).

Verata's Sacrifice is bugged and takes too long, thus it's not worth it.
I find any offensive spell useless because you are too busy making/healing minions. Leave the offensives to your minions.

vamp horror(only a couple for every 7 or 8 fiends to help heal yourself)
putrid explosion(with the extra space i don't see why you wouldn't bring this)

MM build i use is
Flesh Golem(E)
2 of fiends/horrors/vamp horrors
Blood of the master
Dark bond
Res (sig or rebirth depending if im /Mo or not)
and 2 others, normally from Heal area, taste of death, deathly swarm, mantra of resolve or cap sig
attributes are
16 death magic and
13 soul reaping and 4 blood if neither mantra of resolve or heal area are used
12 soul reaping 4 inspiration rest+1 blood magic if i use mantra of resolve(in areas with lots of interrupts
10 healing 9 soul reaping rest+1 blood magic if i use heal area

Heal Area is crap. Instead of wasting attrib points into healing, you can spend into blood and bring BR [Blood Rit/Blood Renewal] BotM is spammable, its all you need.

Yes, Heal Area is rubbish in many respects. You need the Soul Reaping points if you want the high energy minions. I even prefer N/R with Serpent's Quickness and Winnowing = more healing spammage and more dmg per hit.
If you want to have some fun, ditch Golem for Greater Conflagration and ask an ele to bring Mark of Rodgort. Your minions spirt fire and set your foes alight.

Blood Renewal is ok. I ran it for some time, but HA is better. Strong, fast self-heal that heals minions also.

What if you sub out Gaze of Contempt and Smite Hex with Aura of the Lich and Contemplation of Purity? Just a thought. I haven't tried it yet. It could take care of hexes and offers a fast, substantial heal.

I just dont see the point of HA. At 10 healing, you heal yourself and adj minions for 130hp for 10e. BotM at 16 death, you heal all minions for 122 health. So, for the same amount of energy as HA, you get an extra 114 health for minions. Sure, you sacrifice 10% health for 2 BotM's, but if you have renewal you'll get the health back, and even if you dont you'll have a monk. Your job is to summon minions and keep them alive, its a monks job to keep you alive.

Well, first, CoP is Divine Favor, so it doesn't heal much for an N/Mo. Plus, I don't want to have to reapply DB and AotL even more often.
And Gaze of Contempt is the perfect remover for Mark of Prot...especially for a MM! Think about why...

You can play it either way, blood or healing and make it work. I played with Blood for a while and it worked well. But now I'm back to healing and it feels substantially stronger, and I can play much harder than with blood.

'i can play much harder' - that's right on and very well put. blood renewal is a sacrifice right along with the big sacrifice of spamming blood of the master when you have 10 minions. with heal area you don't have to spam blood of the master as much but you CAN. you can use it continually and heal yourself as well as your minions with heal area. only a fool necro would be up front in the mob anyway so there is no worry of healing any foes. you won't be such a burden to the monks and you're much less likely to die.
the team will be less than satisfied with your play if you die and leave 10 uncontrolled minions behind.
16 in death and 10 in soul reaping leaves 10 in blood. i believe that's a meager +5 regen with an initial 25% loss. even breeze is better than that at 10 healing.
you can drop down soul reaping but shit, why would you.
